What's New in the Dominican Republic? On Saturday (Oct. 10), the Dominican authorities reported ZERO positive Covid-19 cases at DR airports! 6275 passengers arrived in the country on 58 flights and 322 random Covid-19 tests were performed - all negative! Of course, this does not provide a complete picture of the situation, but it is nevertheless good news that all of the tests came back negative with no Covid-19.
The President of the DR, Luis Abinader, has requested another 45-day extension of the national curfew, starting on Oct. 19, 2020. As the President stated: "although the contagion of the disease has been contained, thanks to the measures adopted during the state of emergency, it is still necessary to maintain some of these measures to achieve a safe social and economic reopening."

Deaths: 2183 (1.83%)

These numbers are subject to change without notice. The number of "Covid-19 cases" and "deaths" indicate the total numbers reported since March 2020.
Tourism in the Dominican Republic is recovering! Although the number of arrivals is down compared to 2019, tourists are still traveling daily to the destination - and mainly from the USA.
In August, 110.284 non-residents arrived in the DR with 33.789 from the USA. In August 2019, the numbers were 497.390 and 139.243 from the USA.
Mr. Frank Elias Rainieri, General Director of Punta Cana International Airport, stated just last week that flights arriving in Punta Cana from the USA are 90% full and that more flights are coming from both the USA and South America.
Kim Kardashian went on another vacation to the Dominican Republic. She shared moments of enjoying "Dinner Dates in the DR" with her family and jumping into the "Indigenous Eyes" lagoons at Puntacana Resort & Club with the kids.
