What's new in the Dominican Republic?

The President of the Dominican Republic (DR), Luis Abinader, has called on all hotels & resorts in the country to re-open by October 1, 2020. This will be an important step in order to begin the recovery process for the tourism sector and the country as a whole.

Speaking of hotels & resorts, this past week the famous actor, Vin Diesel, and the multiple Emmy Award-winning television host, Raul de Molina, were both seen vacationing at Casa de Campo Resort in La Romana. Celebrities are certainly no strangers to this exclusive resort, which frequently welcomes A-list celebrities, politicians, former U.S. Presidents, etc. Casa de Campo Resort offers a luxury hotel, many private vacation villas, beach club, golf courses and much more.

Travel to the Dominican Republic:

Traveling to the Dominican Republic has always been easy with many airlines offering frequent flights to the destination. Recently, both United Airlines and JetBlue have announced that they are opening routes to the DR. In November, JetBlue is launching a daily flight to Punta Cana and United will be increasing the number of flights from Newark to Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and Santiago.

Airport terminals in the DR have established guidelines requiring social distancing as well as the mandatory use of face-masks for employees and passengers. Upon arrival, all passengers will have their temperature checked as they disembark the plane. If a passenger registers a temperature above 100.6 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) or other symptoms, airport authorities will administer a rapid Covid-19 test and initiate protocols for isolation and treatment. Check out the Preventive Health and Safety Measures for more information about what they're doing at Punta Cana International Airport.

And in case you're worried about traveling on an airplane, a recent report indicates that the chances of contracting the Covid-19 virus in an airplane is lower than you might think!
