Visit a typical country home to sample fresh exotic Caribbean fruits, roasted coffee, cacao, see and learn how they live from the land and their organic products, and have a chance to mingle with the local people.
?Visit the largest and most important cathedral in the country: Basilica de La Altagracia. This cathedral is the spiritual catholic mother of the Dominicans and an important landmark.
Riverboat ride along the famous Chavon River, where you'll have an unforgettable trip enjoying a fantastic scenery to the sound of tropical music and with an incredible grilled lobster lunch served on board surrounded by a breathtaking natural landscape which has been the scene of several international movies such as Apocalypse Now and Rambo II.
?Drive thru the fields of Central Romana Corporation, the largest sugar cane plantation in the country. With over 200,000 acres the fields of mill, they are also one of the most extensive in the world. Stop and taste freshly cut sugar cane. You can learn about the Dominican Tobacco and see first hand how they make local cigars. Also learn about the history of tobacco in the Dominican Republic and its long tradition of making some of the best cigars in the world.
Transportation with pickup in hotels in Bayahibe and La Romana (transportation may not be available or may be subject to an additional fee from some hotels, tour guide, lobster lunch and beverages. Lobster may not be available from March until the end of June as Dominican law prohibits catching and consuming lobster during "La Veda", i.e. the lobster reproductive season.
Full day, i.e. approximately 8 hours including transportation. The excursion is approximately 5-6 hours.
Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes (some walking is required), sun glasses, mosquito repellent, a hat/cap and sun lotion. Bring your camera and cash money (US$) for souvenirs and gratuities.
This excursion may not be suitable for small children and/or infants although there is no minimum age for children to participate in this excursion. All children must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years old).
