On this full day excursion from Punta Cana, you'll explore the typical Dominican culture & lifestyle. Experience spectacular views from the beautiful mountains and off-beaten tracks and enjoy photo opportunities at every turn!
This kind of cultural safari is the ideal way to get a feel of the real Dominican Republic - a country rich with so much more than the pearly white beaches.
Throughout the day, you’ll ride in a convertible Bavaro Runners safari truck. Your tour guide, who is an expert in the history and culture of the region, will share important information about the Dominican culture & lifestyle as well as personal anecdotes, fun facts, etc.
During the day, you’ll become familiar with the rich, historical heritage of various towns and experience the daily lifestyle and friendliness of the local people in their homes.
Your day on this Dominican safari includes...
A visit at a small school to learn about education in the Dominican Republic (note: circumstances do not always allow us to go inside the school and sometimes we can only stop in front to have a look!).
A typical house to see how Dominicans live in the country side and use the land for their daily consumption. You’ll learn about the different tropical fruits and see how cocoa beans, coffee beans, pineapple, vanilla, cinnamon, etc. are grown. After a short demonstration, it is time to sample the goods and perhaps buy a few to bring home. You’ll be invited to taste organic cocoa, coffee, tropical fruits, and have a shot of the famous Mama Juana!
Lunch is served on our ranch located in the mountains where you can enjoy a typical Dominican lunch buffet with rice, beans, meats, salad, pasta, bread, fried plantains and more. You’ll also have time to look around our small shop or just relax and enjoy the view of the mountains.
After lunch, we continue to the sugar cane fields to see you how sugar cane is pressed by machine and how it was done in the old days when oxen were used to pull a wooden mill. You’ll be invited to sample freshly squeezed sugar cane juice.
The last stop of the tour is a visit at the beautiful Macao Beach for a nice swim and time to enjoy the beach before we head back to the hotel.
